Have you ever had it where someone just completely bashes a band (or several bands) that you like, but you don't want to say anything because they're bigger than you and you know they'd have a grudge against you every time they saw you?
I've had this happen a few times. I know people tend to dismiss 'popular bands' as crap (I admit I've done that with a few bands), but it's been happening to me a lot lately. I'll be talking to someone about music and they'll be a complete metal head, but they'll say they hate Dragonforce or The All-American Rejects. Or I'll mention country and they'll think I'm gay or something, or call me emo if I like Fall Out Boy. (If you're familiar with me, I listen to just about everything)
Today I had someone just completely bash bands they considered to be 'emo', including two of my favorites, Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. The guy literally said, "I hate bands like Fall Out Faggots and Panic at the Disco. That's the worst band name I've ever heard of, and anyone who listens to them are emo kids who cut their wrists and go to Hot Topic."
Sure, I know people can have their opinions, but I already know this guy has never bothered listening to those bands, and is one of those people who only listens to blackened death metal like Him, In Flames, Mudvayne, ect. Personally, I think people who judge bands based on the reputation given to them shouldn't talk at least until they've listened to the band. Quite honestly, I can't get into blackened death metal like the majority of my 'friends' at college - where they have such a deep voice that you can't understand them, and the song is always about opening the gates of hell or killing babies. It just doesn't appeal to me.
Sorry, I just can't stand people that are that opinionated, especially when it comes to something I love like music.
